The Backbone Of Our Network

Internet Backbone

KsFiberNet knows that to be the best, you have to surround yourself with the best of the best. Our dedication to employing DWDM and SONET ensures that we continue to provide our customers — today and tomorrow — with a network built on capabilities, reliability and flexibility.

Dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM) revolutionized fiber optics. By breaking information into packets that can simultaneously ride the same fiber, DWDM exponentially multiplied bandwidth capabilities. Using DWDM over our existing backbone allows us to run up to 80 wavelengths of information on a single fiber. Put another way: Each second, a single optical fiber carries the capacity to deliver hundreds of billions of bits.

KsFiberNet’s investment in this technology allows us to adjust to the fluctuating bandwidth demands of our customers while also allowing us to offer competitive pricing.

Because your business demands reliability and flexibility, KsFiberNet insists on using synchronous optic network (SONET) technology. Its strength lies in its redundancy. With its self-healing rings, SONET uses automatic protection switching (APS) — monitoring, routing and rerouting information based on the quality of the transmission.

SONET offers a flexible architecture and possesses capabilities to accommodate multiple transmission rates — plus, it provides an assurance of 99.999% availability.
