A local community turns to advanced technology to bring more jobs to town.

Manufacturing and insurance claims may be two of Fort Scott’s biggest industries, but they aren’t the only ones. And just as important as bringing new business to town is helping those already there grow. That’s why the city is looking at ways to improve internet services.

“To me, it’s just as important as having water and electricity to your home or to your business. It’s a necessity, especially in this day and age,” said Slayden Davis, Ft. Scott Director of Information Technology.

Fort Scott City Internet Technology Director Slayden Davis says that’s why the city is taking two approaches to improving internet services. Part of that is getting current providers to expand services, and bringing new providers to town.

“Most recently is Kansas Fiber Network,” said Davis.
